Summer Activities Made Possible This Year for 5 Group Homes

The community comes together again to sponsor the "wish list" of teenagers from 5 foster group homes. "I just love being able to see these kids light up when they get to go to a theme park or an exciting new place in town, things most kids with parents get to do during the summer break", says Jean Green, an iPrevail volunteer who helps rally the Oviedo community and her own family and friends to pitch in and help.

30 kids plus 10 staff members were able to go to Busch Gardens, Planet Obstacle, The Escape Room, Fun Spot, Orlando Watersports Complex, and other places on their wish list. "The kids have been having a blast, they've participated on all the activities and it's been pretty exciting and now they are ready to go back to school", says Miss Polite, Residential Manager for Friends of Children and Families, the non profit that manages all the group homes.

Wednesday Hugus, Program Director for iPrevail's Foster Friends of Oviedo Program shares her gratitude. "If not for our awesome local businesses who have embraced this purpose with us, we wouldn't be able to offer as much activities. We have businesses like Burns and McDonell sponsor an outing and their employees personally share their time to be with the kids. Fundraising from events like Delmonico Italian Steakhouses' opening night, My Oviedo Store's Oviedo Birthday Bash, and Cafe Panuzzo Ugly Sweater Volunteer Party, allow us to budget for these activities together with personal contributions from our volunteers and neighbors ".
