We joined some friends at River Run Church and United Global Outreach for community service in this little known community 15 miles south east of UCF. We weren't prepared for what we saw- the poverty and the isolation that seems to permeate a community that has been devastated by water contamination for years.
We were able to meet 2 families with little children that we want to help. We have started gently used clothing and toy basket gifts and look forward to create relationships with these families that would allow us to meet their needs, physically and socially. We plan to support the school with backpack drives and sponsored field trips as well as reinforce other non profit and churches' efforts to consistently seek to improve the lives of those we meet in this community.
